(Pay commensurate with education and experience) About Our Organization Encore Music Academy is a not-for-profit community music school that is a major after-school and summer music education provider in McHenry County, Illinois. The organization’s mission is to cultivate the innate musical abilities within each individual in a welcoming and nurturing environment. Job Summary We are seeking Private Lesson Instructors to provide high-quality music instruction to students in a one-on-one environment. Private Lesson Instructors work to foster musical education and growth through private lessons, across a range of ages and ability levels. Instructors also communicate directly with families and students, create a positive learning atmosphere, and embody EMA’s vision and mission for music in the community. Responsibilities Reporting to the Executive Director, Private Lesson Instructors are responsible for providing individualized lessons based on sound pedagogical methods, teaching age-appropriate concepts and techniques to students, providing informal assessment of students’ musical progress, and offering appropriate opportunities for performance, including at EMA’s bi-annual recitals. Private Lesson Instructors are also expected to maintain a high level of personal musicianship and performance, along with presenting a positive and professional image to students, families, donors, and members of the community.
Job Qualifications & Requirements Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in music, music education, performance or equivalent training/certification required. • Master’s degree in music, music education, performance preferred. • Excellent organizational skills, communication skills, attention to detail. • Ability to work in a team environment. • Candidate will exhibit enthusiasm, professionalism, and arts advocacy.
